Letter from Block 5:

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Dear Friends and Colleagues, Here at BLOCKFIVE, we are honored to be a part of the Worcester community and are committed to its continued growth and prosperity. Last year, we utilized our resources to create a memorable event for the city and we would like to do the same this year.

June 7, 2009 will mark the date for the third annual B5K. In collaboration with the City of Worcester and the WPD, a 5K road race starting and finishing at BLOCKFIVE has once again been established. The street area surrounding BLOCKFIVE will be roped off allowing a "Block Party" where food, beverages, beer and wine will be served along with raffles, an auction, prizes and live entertainment. Because of its prevalence in our community and beyond, and because it has affected so many of us in so many ways, we have chosen to contribute to the fight against cancer with the proceeds from the B5K. The proceeds from this year's event will be donated to Worcester's Hope Lodge and the Pancreatic Cancer Alliance at UMass Memorial. Worcester's Hope Lodge is an organization that provides free housing and medical transportation services to cancer patients and their families. The Pancreatic Cancer Alliance continues its ongoing battle against the fourth leading cause of death in this country and it needs the support of the B5K. We applaud both of these organizations for the work that they do, and are honored to be able to contribute our support.

We are looking for the support of the citizens and businesses in the Worcester community in order to facilitate and maximize the success of the B5K. We believe that in working together, we can accomplish wonderful things. Therefore, it is our goal, through donations of time, money and supplies to contribute 100% of the money raised directly to the fight against cancer. Please consider offering you support in any way that you can. email b5k@block5bistro.com
